CIVITAVECCHIA – FromBIOMA Naturalistic Cultural Association we receive and publish:

As is known, Civitavecchia is twinned with the Japanese city of Ishinomaki, testimony to the profound friendship between the two peoples is the Ambassador’s Statue Hasekura Tsunenaga, located in Corso Guglielmo Marconi.
In 1615, the ambassador disembarked at the Port of Civitavecchia, to go to Rome to see Pope Paul V. It would be appropriate to ask why a chemical bath is clearly visible behind the aforementioned statue during the celebrations of April 25th (Anniversary of the liberation of Italy) April 28 (Santa Fermina) and perhaps May 1 (Workers’ Day). Then it is rumored to be a tourist city. Who knows what traders think? maybe to remove them for the May 14th anniversary of the first bombing of 1943,,,,hopefully. Yet the Japanese Culture Festival takes place in Civitavecchia. A lack of respect for us citizens of Civitavecchia and for the Japanese people. We would like to remind you that in the past the Japanese Garden was destroyed and only a plaque remains in Piazzale del Pincio.
Maybe we in Civitavecchia are used to seeing the construction sites during the holidays in Piazza Luigi Calamatta, Piazza Leandra and Piazzale degli Eroi with the well-positioned yellow chemical toilets, but rest assured in Japan they are not used to it. Furthermore, we hope for the intervention of the “Friends of Ishinomaki Association” and all the associations that protested against the center in Via Giusti for the homeless so that such situations do not occur in the future.
