The Municipality of Piacenza has joined the Call issued by the Emilia Romagna Region in 2023, nominating a PEBA proposal (Plans for the elimination of architectural barriers) developed on the basis of a network and places of interest approach, dedicated to the portion of the city included and close to of the sixteenth-century city walls.
CONTRIBUTIONS FOR PEBA
The proposal obtained a regional contribution of 36,065.77 euros, equal to 50% of the overall project amount as envisaged for municipalities with over 50 thousand inhabitants. The objective is to achieve the adoption of the Plan – the first, for Piacenza by 31 December 2024. The municipal administration has entrusted the service to the temporary group of professionals made up of the architects Cinzia Araldi and Maddalena Moretti, together with Doctor Leris Fantini, integrating its drafting with the contents of the Urban Accessibility Plan (PAU).
THE OBJECTIVES OF PEBA
The PEBA aims to encourage the independent movement of all people, breaking down barriers related to age, the person’s state of health and the specific needs that motor, sensory, cognitive and psychiatric disabilities may require, promoting solutions oriented towards pedestrianism. , accessibility and usability of urban spaces, comfort, recognisability and safety. At the same time, the Plan also aims to intercept and reduce linguistic and cultural obstacles, the gap in digital knowledge or the unexpected difficulties that may arise from accompanying children and non-self-sufficient people, or simply from the need to transport a heavy load .
