Descriptive text here

From 7 to 19 May, the Teatro Belli in Rome is transformed into a stage of profound human reflections with “The House of Bees”, a play written and directed by Sargis Galstyan. Supported by the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Italy and presented by the InControVerso Company, this performance promises to be a significant event in the city’s cultural calendar.

Human entanglements and existential dilemmas

“The House of Bees” presents itself as a drama full of psychological tensions and existential questions. The protagonists of the show are Melisso De Sapio and Deborah Moncinelle, played respectively by Josafat Vagni and Mariné Galstyan. The context develops inside a psychiatric hospital where Melisso, a linguist, finds himself on the verge of suicide. His approach to life, centered on the etymological analysis of words, leads him to challenge social conventions, making his point of view a living paradox.

Deborah, on the contrary, is a rational doctor and integrated into society, but not without personal traumas, including her father’s suicide. The relationship between the two protagonists evolves into a complex mix of pain and understanding, pushing both to reconsider their certainties. Their interaction becomes a symbol of struggle against convention and the search for a personal and questionable truth.

A stage of reflection and irony

Sargis Galstyan not only directs but enriches the show with evocative sets and an evocative soundtrack by Eugen Doga, creating an atmosphere that oscillates between Greek tragedy and modern comedy. The topics covered are universal and profound, such as the meaning of work in contemporary society, often interpreted as a dogma rather than a necessity. Galstyan uses theatrical art to explore these themes with a humor that lightens the narrative, while maintaining an undercurrent of biting social criticism.

The cast is completed by caliber actors, including Stefano Antonucci and Luca Basile, who contribute to making “La Casa delle Api” a show with a strong emotional and intellectual impact. The performances are enriched by the lighting design of Cecilia Sensi and the stage photographs by Beniamino Finocchiaro, which together create an engaging and reflective visual experience.
