Vicenza, 29 April 2024 – It’s called Top Thrill 2 and the name already reveals everything: it is the height of thrilling in amusement parks, the fastest roller coaster in the world which allows those who have the courage to climb up to reach it 193 kilometers per hour falling from a height of 128 metres. And the structure and the trains that allow this unique emotion is made in Italya system with 3 Lightning trains with 20 seats each made by Antonio Zamperla spa based in Vicenza which has been producing attractions for amusement parks all over the world for almost 60 years.
Top Thrill 2 inaugurated
After two years of work and much waiting, Top Thrill 2 was inaugurated in Cedar Point amusement park in Sandusky, in Ohio in the United States. The attraction marks the debut of Lightning trains for Zamperla roller coasters and represents a huge step forward in the technology of this type of roller coaster. The Top Thrill 2 is indeed the triple launch roller coaster fastest in the world: features three adrenaline-pumping throws, each with moments of airtime (i.e. the feeling of weightlessness), plus the world’s fastest back throw, ranging from a first forward throw of 119 km/h, followed by a second back throw at 163 km/h and then the third fastest forward throw in the world projecting up to 193 km/h. In addition to the launches, the attraction is characterized by 128 meter vertical spireas tall as the famous Top Hat, offering visitors one of the longest moments of weightlessness on a roller coaster.

A unique attraction

The goals
The achievement of the Top Thrill 2 of 2024 comes after other important works by Zamperla last year: in 2023 the company announced the launch of the Canada’s fastest coaster and, at the same time, the announcement of the numerous awards won for the creation of innovative products, including Nebulaz, one rotating carousel which draws a hypnotic movement and Big Wavez: one 70 foot tall tower which creates a 15 meter wave, this one, after being installed in Saudi Arabia it went viral with more than 70 million views on social media. Zamperla is no stranger to engineering challenges in amusement parks and in 2010 there was that too historic Coney Island, the oldest and most iconic park in the world which was relaunched by Zamperla when the mayor of New York Bloomberg announced a tender for the relaunch of Luna Park in 2010. After less than 100 days Zamperla managed to reopen the parkinsert the Italian flag on the Cyclone and welcome the first visitors, including Bloomberg.
