Via Pantini in Pescara: a road to the Reserve

Final touches in Pescara before the opening of Via Pantini, thus completing the so-called pendulum road, a fundamental axis for the connection from the southern area, but above all functional for the expansion of the Dannunziana Reserve.

Workers at work this morning at the entrance on the SS16 to the renovated Via Pantini in Pescara. Once the asphalt has been laid and the sidewalks have been arranged, a specific ordinance from the mobility sector of the Municipality is allowing the grounding of the horizontal and vertical signs, before the official opening of the stretch which completes the so-called pendulum road, a fundamental route for the south-north connection. An important work, therefore, to make traffic flow in a particularly busy area more fluid, but above all functional to the broader project of merging two sections of the Dannunziana Reserve, called to resurrect after the devastating fire three years ago:

“In fact”, comments the mayor Carlo Masci, giving the news together with the councilor Luigi Albore Mascia, “the last stretch of the pendulum road which will be passable in two directions when they are all the reclamation works on the pine forest have been completed, following the fire of recent years, aimed at its renaturalisation, with the construction of the fence of section 5 and a roundabout. At that point it will also be possible to close Via della Bonifica to traffic, for the unification of the sections. With Monday’s passage, the entire pendulum road, which leads from one part of the city to the other, is effectively put into operation: an artery that is completed after 40 years, a prestigious result that we are happy to have realized with this administration. This, among other things, is a further step in the changes to the road network that we have designed for the southern area of Pescara also based on the expansion of the Pineta”, concludes Masci. “Together with the work now underway to demolish the trumpet junction, this Administration has had the administrative strength and courage to implement a traffic revolution in the Pescara South area that has been awaited for decades”

Councilor Albore Mascia comments. “We have carried out”, he points out, “not only an operation to rationalize the road network in an access area to the city, but above all an initiative of fundamental environmental impact which further enhances the so-called green lung of the city, the D’Annunzio Reserve”.
