Portofino, in the province of Genoa, is the richest municipality in Italy, with a declared average per capita income of 90,610 euros out of a total of 300 taxpayers. This is the data published by the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) in the national report on tax returns in 2023, based on the 2022 tax year.

From the publication of the data analyzes and tables relating to the Irpef and VAT declarations presented in the 2022 tax year in the “Fiscal statistics” section of the website of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, presented in 2023, at a national level, in Portofino followed by Lajatico (Pisa) with 52,955.33 euros and Basiglio (Milan) with 49,523.91 euros.

There are approximately 42 million Italian taxpayers, who declare an average income of 23,650 euros: the richest live in Lombardy (27,890 euros) and the poorest in Calabria (17,160 euros).
