Colapesce and Dimartino direct it

FANO The port, the seafaring and the fishing tradition acquire, alongside the traditional importance they have always had within the Fano economy, an increasingly important value from a tourist point of view.

Now this environment is enriched with a musical initiative that will enhance its beauties: “Sopravento” is born, the music festival of the Municipality of Fano dedicated to seafaring organized by Mattia Priori and Serena Pierfranceschi of the Rebel House association.

The promoter Priori

The initiative was presented by Priori himself and by the director of the culture department Ignazio Pucci, in the presence of councilors Cora Fattori and Sara Cucchiarini. The artistic direction was entrusted to Colapesce and Dimartino, the Sicilian musical duo that has successfully participated several times in the Sanremo festival, with a precise connection, if nothing else auspicious, to the “Il violino e la selce” festival that the Municipality of Fano entrusted the task to the Sicilian Franco Battiato at the time.

This time, however, the reference to the navy is conditioning. This is also highlighted by the title “Sopravento” which, directing the route in sailing, takes the boat where the wind blows. In this specific case we allude to everything that will happen in three days of music, on 24, 25 and 26 May in various maritime and cultural places in Fano. The central place will be the church of San Francesco. 3 concerts will take place here.

The inauguration on May 24th

The first evening will be inaugurated on May 24th by 2 artists from the Marche region: Maria Antonietta (Letizia Cesarini) and Colombre (Giovanniprendito). Maria Antonietta is from Pesaro, she produced her first album “Marie Antoinette wants to suck your young blood” in 2010, and then achieved national success in 2012 with the shoegaze project “Young Wrists”. She has a degree in art history and has dedicated a series of readings to female creativity. Colombre made his debut in 2017 with the album “Pulviscolo” starting a successful career with a tour of more than 90 concerts opening the performances of De Gregori and Luci della Centrale Elettrica.

May 25th will be the turn of Any Other, the stage name of Adele Altro from Verona, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, and of Nicolò Carnesi, acrobatic creator of electronic blues songs and lyrical songs. The final evening of May 26th will see the participation of Filippo Graziani in concert, with a musical incursion by Colapesce and Dimartino themselves, a moment in which Filippo will remember his father Ivan Graziani and his song “I Marinai” re-edited just this year by the two artistic directors.

Places to be valorised

So it will be the corners of the port, the places frequented by the navy that will host musical events, places enhanced by the Il Ridosso association which preserves their identity aspects. Recently the students of the Nolfi and Torelli high schools performed episodes of the novel Maria Risorta in the Borghese dock and the Malatestiano polyphonic choir recalled the atmospheres of the work of the Fano writer Giulio Grimaldi by singing on the port quay.
