Sulmona, arrested for drug dealing thanks to the help of the dog units

SULMONA (AQ) – During a service aimed at combating illicit trafficking, carried out by the Sulmona Financial Police, and at the control and restoration of urban decorum, conducted by the local Municipal Police, aimed at identifying vehicles parked in a state of abandonment, this morning the Fiamme Gialle of Sulmona, directed by Captain Cecilia Tangredi, arrested an individual of Italian nationality for possession of cocaine for the purposes of trafficking.

During the aforementioned activity, a Fiat “Punto” car was identified, parked in Via L’Aquila, abandoned and without insurance coverage, registered to an Italian person already known to the police.

The Local Police Agents contacted the owner of the vehicle residing there and, in his presence, an external inspection of the vehicle was undertaken with the Corps’ canine units. During the operations, the dog unit reported traces of narcotic substances on the subject. This made the officers deem it necessary to carry out a personal and local search of his home.

Thanks to the help of dog units, a quantity of cocaine equal to 57 grams was thus found, together with two precision scales.

The subject was arrested for possession with the aim of dealing a narcotic substance, pursuant to art. 73 of Presidential Decree 309 of 1990, and the Public Prosecutor ordered that he be taken to the Sulmona prison pending the hearing to validate the documents of the Judicial Police.

The use of the anti-drug canine units of the Guardia di Finanza Group of L’Aquila was fundamental, allowing them to carry out a search of the affected area in consideration of the fact that, very often, abandoned and left unlocked vehicles become places of concealment of the narcotic substance by sellers and buyers.

The investigative activities of the Fiamme Gialle against the trafficking and dealing of narcotic substances continue to demonstrate how fundamental the control and knowledge of the territory are, with the aim of identifying, preventing and repressing criminal activities and restoring an environment to citizens. healthy and safe, especially for the benefit of the younger generations.
