Vannacci, sinister hatred in chat: Massimo Giannini’s defense is a boomerang

The shocking phrase that can be read in the Bella ciao chat, the one born on the occasion of April 25th and created by Massimo Giannini, is a “let’s kill him!” referring to General Roberto Vannacci, revealed yesterday by Il Tempo, has gone around the web. “On the left they never contradict themselves: democratic only when it suits them. Shame!”, commented the leader of the League Matteo Salvini. To which the Repubblica editorialist himself responded, with a post that is the classic worst-case scenario.

The facts. The WhatsApp “list” includes journalists, publishers and men of culture. However, regarding the candidacy of General Roberto Vannacci for the European Championships in the ranks of the League, the participants in the group overstepped the mark. Scrolling through the messages, first we read an ironic “Degenerale Vannacci”. Then the reflection: “An individual who will in any case partly represent Italy in the EU”, complete with an emoticon crying in despair. Then we get to the heart of things (and the worst): “We have to do something. Of course.” Until the peremptory: “Let’s kill him!”. Someone realizes that the mark has been exceeded and adds: “This sentence will bring it back to Facci”.

As mentioned, the leader of the League himself underlined the double standards of certain leftists, “democratic only when it suits them”. Giannini himself responded to Salvini: “He accuses us of a sentence on , which came out on the ’25 April’ chat – writes the journalist in a tweet on X -. Why don’t you report what I wrote, immediately after seeing it?: ‘certain words are not used, not even in jest, no to hatred’. Read to believe. Giannin also publishes the screenshot of the shot made to his chat mates: “However, friends, sorry, we are many, we are different, but out of courtesy, let’s always try to maintain the right tone: ‘Let’s kill him’ can’t really be heard, not even as a joke. This group is not, cannot and must not become just any social network, that is, a ‘diner for anthropophagi’ (copyright Stefano Massini please). In short, even if there was no need, Giannini confirms firsthand that what was written in the chat are unacceptable words of hate.
