They are rich in waterfall, minerals, vitamins And antioxidantsthey fight the “bad” cholesterol and have always been considered a symbol of luck and prosperity. For this reason but also, obviously, for their extraordinary goodness, i peas (“bisi” in Veneto) were loved by the Venetian Doges (even if the fact that they celebrated the feast of San Marco, on April 25th, with rice and peas, seems more like an unsubstantiated legend). An authentic marvel, in short, with only one flaw: the season of fresh peas lasts too short, a month, a month and a half at most, a point of weakness but, perhaps, also of strength: a year of waiting to have the fresh and fragrant product makes it even more desired. Then, in reality, frozen peas are available all year round, but enthusiasts will tell you that “it’s not the same”. Restaurants and trattorias enhance them in risottos and pasties, as an accompaniment to stews and cuttlefish, or as a side dish. But even in the squares of Veneto, there is no shortage of celebrations.

PARTIES & EXHIBITIONS

And, in fact, everything is ready for “Bisi in Festa”, the third edition of the taste review signed by Unpli (National Pro Loco Union) Veneto which, from 5 May to 9 June, will be on display in four provinces and six locations in Veneto – one of the flagship products of the region. Only the Sagra dei Bisi di Lumignano will be missing from the calendar, canceled due to lack of product, but the large territorial marketing project is consolidated which sees as its focal point the valorisation and promotion of a niche and very short seasonal product which probably is not rated as it deserves.

An excellence, that of the Bisi del Veneto, also confirmed by the De.Co. recognition. (Municipal Name) for their historical and cultural value, by the Municipalities of Baone (Pd), LongareLumignano (Vi), Peseggia-Scorzè (Ve), PozzoloVillaga (Vi), and for the quality mark certified by the Treviso Chamber of Commerce for Borso del Grappa (Tv).

A long promotion process in which Unpli Veneto has been able to count on the collaboration of the Community of Bisiculturists of Veneto, which carries out work thanks to which, with the commitment of volunteers, it has been possible to aggregate territories and products, creating a unique event in the regional context which aims to become, in a short time, one of the reference events among food and wine events. An exhibition, Bisi in Festa, at the service of the consumer, and which enhances the culture of flavor against the standardization of taste and consumption, protecting the reality and excellence of the territory.
