It was a gang of kids who perpetrated yet another vandalistic raid against an EAV bus, in the early hours of yesterday morning, in the Torre del Greco area. An attack against the vehicle carried out at the end of a Saturday spent partying. This is, at least, one of the hypotheses of the police: the Carabinieri of the Torre del Greco company are in fact investigating the matter, and have not ruled out other leads. In fact, it was staff from the mobile radio unit who intervened and carried out an initial inspection as soon as the report was raised.

But other investigations are underway, starting with the acquisition of surveillance cameras, both those in the area where the raid took place and those installed inside the bus. The newest Eavbus vehicles, in fact, are equipped with a video camera system which in the past, made available to investigators, has been useful in identifying perpetrators of crimes.

The incident occurred near Corso Vittorio Emanuelethe damaged bus is the one that operates the night service from Naples to Sorrento, passing through various cities on the Vesuvian coastal strip. These are crowded races in the early hours of the night but then gradually become less and less frequented as the morning arrives. And in fact there were no other people on the bus when the hooligans (three or maybe four, presumably very young) got on. After a short journey, the gang forced the driver to stop driving, telling him they wanted to get off. They took the glass-breaking hammers on board the vehicle, which are used in case of emergency, and used them to break the windows. Then they disappeared.

The driver phoned the company and then the police: he provided them with an initial version of the facts, but he could already be questioned again today to provide further information on the dynamics of the episode and better help identify the perpetrators of the hooligan act. The vehicle returned to storage, where it is still available to the judicial authorities and after the replacement of the broken windows it will be able to return to the road. No physical damage, however, to the driver, who fared better than his colleague who was attacked last Tuesday in Piazza Principe Umberto in Naples on the EAV bus headed to Afragola. They stole his cell phone, money and tickets, and despite the intervention of the police the attacker managed to escape. The ambulance that responded to the scene provided first aid, then transported the driver to the Fatebenefratelli hospital. For some time the unions have been asking for greater attention for drivers who find themselves alone facing thugs, hooligans and criminals. Among the requests, support with staff responsible for checking travel documents on board the vehicles, the activation of cameras on all buses and armored driving cabins.
