Arboretti makes a final appeal for unity – Teramo

GIULIANOVA. The leader of the governing Citizen Franco Arboretti calls the rest of the centre-left: «The opponent is Costantini’s centre-right». It is a final appeal for the unity of the area forces, with the presentation of the lists now upon us: the call from the governing Citizen comes following the division created with the most radical fringe of the left, represented by Unione Popolare, Nos-Noi and Sinistra Italiana, which they will present Daniele Di Massimantonio as a candidate for mayor. Arboretti underlines that the common political opponent to beat is the centre-right of Jwan Costantini, highlighting the existence of a broad coalition, already formed by the governing Citizen, the Democratic Party and the 5 Star Movement, which could expand further. «The objective is to make the deployment even broader, on the basis of sharing programs that are in tune with ours», Arboretti points out, «therefore the invitation also extends to the more radical left of Nos-Noi, Unione Popolare and the Italian Left”.
Arboretti reports that he has asked for a meeting with Di Massimantonio, scheduled for the beginning of the week, with the aim of calming the situation and seeking unity. The group leader of the Citizen Governer underlines that the group’s councilor Alberta Ortolani she was indicated as the coalition’s candidate for mayor because there wasn’t a name that satisfied everyone: «The figure who obtained the greatest consensus was chosen», she says, and recalls her personal success in the last regional elections thanks to her candidacy on the list civic of Luciano D’Amico, which allowed a gap of nine percentage points on governor Marsilio in favor of D’Amico. Arboretti concludes his appeal for unity by underlining the importance of an act of responsibility on the part of all the forces of the center-left, and inviting them to merge into a single coalition. «The glue must be the renewal program», he states, adding that «the opponent is not on the left and that together we can beat Costantini».
