After 12 seasons, New Basket Brindisi returns to A2 a day early, and not due to the demerits of coach Sakota’s team, which also won the important match against Reyer Venezia with a score of 84-80, but for the results of the matches in Treviso (victory in Varese 100-95) and Pesaro (at home against Cremona 91-86).
THE MATCH – Therefore the Apulian team’s worthy effort was worth nothing, as they obviously couldn’t erase everything that happened this season and that today led to this painful relegation. Reyer limits herself to isolations and it is easier for Brindisi to score the game defensively, even if Tucker is a highlight-reel demon and alone restarts Reyer’s heartbeat. Halftime at 45-38.
Brindisi also starts strong in the second half, but Reyer finds good shots and makes her long shots a difficult weapon for the Apulians to counter, however the Orogranata team are unable to equalize even after coach Spahija’s timeout; Morris, Sneed and Bayehe brought the lead back to double digits at 67 to 57 after 30 minutes. With the public now aware of the results arriving from other fields, and therefore despite the mathematical certainty of relegation, Brindisi completed a match played very well and therefore deservedly won with a score of 84-80.
