Goodbye to Gianpietro Benedetti, who passed away at the age of 81

Gianpietro Benedetti has died: he was 81 years old.

The business world mourns the passing of Gianpietro Benedetti, 81 years old, a leading figure in the Italian and international industrial panorama. Benedetti was the president of one of the pillars of the Friuli Venezia Giulia economy, the Danieli Group, known for its leadership in the design and construction of steel plants.

Benedetti’s story is an example of dedication, passion and commitment in the world of work. His journey began way back in 1961, when a young Gianpietro joins Danieli as a technical designer. Through years of hard work and commitment, Benedetti climbed the corporate hierarchy, becoming a point of reference in the sector.

In the 1980s, when Benedetti was appointed general manager of the Group, he faced one of the most crucial challenges of his career: leading the company through a fundamental transformation. Thanks to his strategic vision and determined leadership, together with Cecilia Danieli, he managed to overcome the crisis that hit the steel sector.

After the passing of Cecilia Danieli, Benedetti takes over the rolethe president and CEO. His commitment and dedication are recognized with numerous awards and honours, including the title of Cavaliere del Lavoro and honorary degrees. In 2023 Giampietro Benedetti was nominated honorary citizen of Udine for the many interventions of which he was the promoter in the city and which contributed and recover and enhance the historical architectural heritage of Udine: from the renovation of the facades of the Castle, to the restoration of the Angel to that of the fountain in Piazza San Giacomo, passing through the arrangement of the statues in Piazza Libertà and the Loggia di San Giovanni, without counting the redevelopment of the former Dormisch, an important work also from a socio-economic point of view.
