There Sir Vim Perugia wins the championship in the men’s volleyball Super League beating Mint Monza in four games at the end of a season in which the Umbrian team proved to be the true dominators of the championship and also demonstrated its full value in the final. In game 4 the final seal comes with Monza who doesn’t want to let go but when Perugia puts the arrow there seems to be none for anyone. And after 4 battle sets the party can begin.
Perugia: a dominated season
Define Perugia’s season as a winning one it may even seem reductive. Sir has won practically everything, bringing not only the second championship in its history (after the first won in the 2017/2018 season) but also the Italian Cup, the Super Cup and the Club World Cup. The many seasonal commitments probably weighed on the regular season which Perugia finished in second place but in the playoffs, Lorenzetti’s team rose to the next level and overwhelmed all the opponents it faced.

Perugia’s success is that of a cohesive group capable of enhancing the talent of individuals but the main signature is that of Angelo Lorenzetti. For the coach, this is the fifth of his career, the second in a row after the one achieved in Trento last season. But there are many records for one of the best Italian coaches: he is the first coach in the history of the SuperLega to win the scudetto in four different cities (Modena, Piacenza, Trento and Perugia this season).

Andrea Lucchetta’s applause comes from the Rai microphones who commented on the decisive match for the championship: “It’s a deserved victory, thanks to a redesigned and reinvigorated lineup, shaped by Lorenzetti. Human resources are very important, but hats off to Simone Giannelli (who also won the MVP title, ed) who managed this championship final and this season as he has always accustomed us to, as a champion”.
