Work continues unabated on the landslide that fell around 11.30pm yesterday on State Road 26 in the Donnas area. Cleaning interventions are necessary on the high ledge on the upstream side of the road, which is not currently possible as due to the bad weather there are no safe conditions to intervene.
State road 26 is interrupted between the municipalities of Donnas and Bard, at km 53.
The Presidency of the Council, through the regional Civil Protection Department, has requested the SAV motorway company to activate the emergency protocol so that free transit can be arranged between the Verrès and Pont-Saint-Martin toll booths. Until the reopening of state road 26, SAV will guarantee alternative traffic by exempting vehicles entering the Pont-Saint-Martin motorway station and exiting at the Verrès motorway station and vice versa from paying the toll. To be able to benefit from free travel on the aforementioned route, users must use the Telepass electronic toll device or travel on a lane with an operator (no lanes with automatic payment by card or cash). Transport lines will also be diverted to the highway.
The first inspections already carried out by the regional technicians of the Civil Protection and the Department of Public Works have defined the first reclamation interventions to be carried out, an intervention that will be managed directly by the Municipality of Donnas with a specialized company already ready to intervene.
Updates will follow to define in detail the necessary interventions and the consequent timescales for restoring the road system on the state road.
