“Still?“, this is the comment of one of the duty free workers at Fiumicino airport after having surprised Piero Fassino with a perfume placed in his pocket. According to what several clerks reported, it was not the first time for the deputy, but at least the third. A week before April 15th there would have been a similar episode and, in the days before, yet another.
It would have been that comment from the duty free workers that triggered Piero Fassino’s anger: “How dare you“, he would have said rudely, as he was towards the road that leads to the gate, heading to Strasbourg.
The precedents: the intervention of the vigilantes and the payment
Two, not just one as had emerged at the beginning, would have been the previous episodes of attempted theft on April 15th at the duty free for Piero Fassino. On both previous occasions the deputy, surprised by the vigilantes, had been recaptured. After an apology for the distraction, he proceeded to pay.

The employees allegedly refused to accept payment for the perfume package. Fassino then purchased it together with another product, as a sign of his good faith.
