In recent days, the assembly hall of the Galvani Iodi institute in Reggio Emilia hosted a simulated criminal trial on a case of revenge porn as part of the legality in schools process promoted by the subsection of the National Association of Magistrates of Reggio Emilia.
Silvia Guareschi, judge of preliminary investigations of the Court of Reggio Emilia, participated; the lawyers of the Court of Reggio Emilia Vainer Burani, Mara Greco, Francesco Tirelli, Maurizio Trasatti, the lawyer Stefano Catellani of the Court of Parma and honorary judge at the Court of Reggio Emilia; the interns Giada Agnello and Letizia Trasatti. Also taking part in the morning were the assistant chief Antonio Pugliano and the chosen assistant Alessandro D’Antonio, employed by the local police command of Reggio Emilia.

During the morning, the roles of defendant, victim/civil party, lawyers, lay judges and witnesses were performed in relation to a case of illicit diffusion of sexually explicit images in application of the art. 612 ter penal code, the so-called revenge porn.
The children experienced live what a trial is and also how a crime is reconstructed and listened to the explanations from the professionals present relating to the rules that govern the roles of the prosecution and defense and the other dynamics that affect a criminal trial .
The initiative is part of the institute’s civic education projects carried out by the teachers, Professor Laura Spallanzani and Professor Salvatore Corcione, who have included this day in a broader process which began with preliminary meetings and whose aim is to encourage the acquisition of The importance of respecting legal norms and, more generally, the rules that govern the democratic coexistence of a civil society. The intent is to make a concrete contribution to deal with the educational emergency that grips our society in which the lack of fear with which the new generations act is too often accompanied by a disconcerting unawareness of the consequences that can arise from their actions.
