PESARO – Long applause and a crowd gathered around his wife Nicoletta Mantovani and his daughters Cristina and Giuliana. Thus Pesaro paid homage to Luciano Pavarotti: in the late afternoon today (Saturday 27 April) a life-size bronze statue of the great tenor who was at home in Rossini’s city was discovered.
Present at the unveiling was his wife Nicoletta Mantovani, president of the Luciano Pavarotti Foundation with which the city has formed an intense bond: «For Luciano it would be, is, a special day because he is remembered by those who loved him so much. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to the mayor and deputy mayor for this work and for what they have done for the culture of this city.” a heartfelt thank you also from the tenor’s daughters Giuliana and Cristina Pavarotti (mayor Ricci and deputy mayor Vimini were at their side during the installation of the Maestro’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2022).
From a height of 192cm, the bronze work was placed thanks to the collaboration of Riccardo Pozzi’s Fare department, at the intersection with via Curiel, to greet and welcome with its presence the people of Pesaro and visitors arriving from via Branca enter the square, inviting them to the theater.
The statue is made with the lost wax casting technique, by Albano Poli. It was presented by Andrea Mezzetti, artistic assistant of maestro Poli who reported his words, quoting “Pavarotti, an unforgettable artist of our country. This statue has the objective of disseminating what the Master did and his ability to bring beauty into the world, through his voice.”
