Michele Riondino and the post shock on Facebook on Liberation Day: photo by The Russian upside down (together with Mussolini). The Tarantino actor and director Michele Riondino published on Facebook an old photo of the president of the Senate Ignazio La Russa upside down, portrayed next to an image of Benito Mussolini, in front of which there is a bouquet of flowers. The post is from April 25th, Liberation Day. Then after two days (and some controversy) he writes a new post: «Ok ok I’ve attracted your attention, now I’ll turn the photo over and let’s see if his original position causes the same scandal».
The first post
«There are no longer the fascists of the past. Only sheep. This – writes Riondino – is what yesterday’s fascists who have become today’s rulers are. Better a life as a sheep than a day as a lion. Long live the resistance.”
The director’s words
Riondino, who is also the artistic director of the concert on May 1st Libero e Pensante in Taranto, notes: «The really funny thing is that there was a time when the fascists were more authentic, more bold, they were lions, even if only for a day. They claimed their identity without fear of being accused of being traitors and murderers of their homeland.” Today, however, adds Riondino, who this evening will be present at the screening of the film Palazzina Laf, his first work as director, at the archaeological park of the Greek walls of Taranto, «they are afraid of defining themselves, of claiming their faith. They betray their identity by swearing on the anti-fascist constitution and then by sitting on the armchair they become champions of the supercazzola, a black belt in climbing on mirrors. I say this sincerely”, he concludes.
The new post
Two days after the post, controversy broke out. And the Tarantino, artistic director of the big concert on May 1st in Taranto once again entrusts his thoughts to social media: «Ok ok I’ve attracted your attention, now I’ll turn the photo over and let’s see if its original position causes the same scandal».
Minister Fitto
The comment of the Minister for European Affairs, the South Raffaele Fitto, was harsh: «Michele Riondino is not just an actor and director, he is the artistic director of one of the most important events of May 1st in Italy: the Uno Maggio in Taranto – recalls the minister -. The post of him with the president of the Senate, Ignazio La Russa, upside down says a lot about the idea that the organizers have of an event that should be dedicated to work, but also respect for democracy and institutions. The silence of the center-left is even worse.”
Minister Sangiuliano
«I express sincere and strong solidarity with the President of the Senate, Ignazio La Russa, who has been addressed with unworthy words by those who demonstrate that they are not up to the level of civil life in our Nation», says the Minister of Culture in a note, Gennaro Sangiuliano.
