A veil of sadness has settled over Salerno: this afternoon, in fact, he disappeared Matteo Marzano, symbol of the capital’s associations and volunteering. The historic animator of the “L’Abbraccio” association he passed away after a short illness. A death that truly affected everyone: «I express my personal condolences and that of the Civic Administration for the premature death of Matteo Marzano, an exemplary fellow citizen for his generosity and dedication to the common good», the mayor’s moving memory Vincenzo Napoli. «Dearest Matteo had been leading “L’Abbraccio” for some time, a deserving voluntary association committed to supporting the weakest: the homeless, ex-convicts, the physically and mentally disabled. Among his best-known initiatives is the social restaurant in the San Leonardo area and the constant presence at migrant landings. I remember him with us in the front row sharing the welcome of those disembarking from the ships. To family and friends, an embrace of solidarity with the eternal gratitude of our community which from now on undertakes the commitment to continue to support their generous work».

It doesn’t seem real to me. Hi Matteo, I will miss you so much». On social media, in a few hours, testimonies in memory of Marzano have multiplied, symbol of Salerno volunteering. Funeral tomorrow at 4pm at the church of San Domenico.
