UIL Prato the DEF 2024 raises concerns

The Economic and Financial Document for 2024, presented by the Government, raises serious concerns for the UIL. This DEF, which should outline the crucial economic strategies for the future of our country, suffers from a substantial void that cannot be ignored, a “container without contents” that looks to the past and offers no growth prospects for the future.

It is a DEF that seems to confirm this Government’s habit of promising important results, to hide the sole purpose of buying time, in the absence of courageous and incisive choices.
We recognize the lack of political will aimed at increasing revenues with tax and social justice measures, preferring the protection of the usual partisan interests.

As UIL, we maintain that resources must be sought where they exist, starting with a serious modification of the tax on extra profits of all those operators who have enriched themselves disproportionately during the last years of crisis, combating tax evasion and broadening the base taxable IRPEF from all sources of income.
With regard to the policies that interest us most as UIL SCHOOL, we believe that interventions that aim to remedy extremely relevant problems such as the very high percentage of NEETs (one of the worst in the EU), educational poverty (which, in the last ten years, has significantly worsened), the mismatch, supply/demand of labour, the obsolescence of skills and returning illiteracy.

These are all issues that strongly penalize the personal and professional growth of all citizens and the competitiveness of our businesses. We therefore believe that putting training “concretely” at the center of national policies can no longer be postponed.
Too little has been foreseen to date for the problems of minors. In the DEF, however, emphasis is placed on the fact that our country has strengthened protection for minors in conditions of economic, social and psychological hardship. It is underlined that the bill “Provisions and delegation to the Government regarding the prevention and combating of bullying and cyberbullying” will introduce a strengthened strategy that protects minors, favoring preventive, training and educational actions. It will promote the implementation of the planned interventions within educational institutions, local authorities, sports organizations and the third sector. Among the initiatives of the integrated action plan, we consider the establishment of the Court for individuals, minors and families to be an important step, to ensure greater respect for the rights and needs of minors, strengthening the professional figure for this purpose. of the family mediator.
