6 seriously injured, 12 year old rescued by helicopter

Extremely serious accident Friday morning on the A9 motorway, near Fino Mornascoin the direction of Milan. Two cars collided head-on at a construction site. Six people were seriously injured. A 12-year-old boy was rescued by helicopter. The highway was temporarily closed for the rescue effort and traffic was in chaos in both directions.

The dynamics of the accident are still to be reconstructed, but the impact between the two vehicles would have occurred at a narrowing of the road for works, with a lane change.

The deployment of relief efforts was huge. They intervened three ambulances, the medical vehicle and the 118 helicopterin addition to the firefighters and the traffic police. Among the injured is a 16-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy, who would unfortunately be in very serious conditions and was taken to Bergamo hospital.

Traffic blocked. Kilometer-long queues both in the direction of Milan and towards Como and Switzerland. The motorway was temporarily closed between Lomazzo and Fino Mornasco to ensure rescue operations.
