Artificial intelligence: we’ll talk about it on May 3rd in Sala Zanoni

The Cremona Committee of the Dante Alighieri Society resumes its journey. After the death of president Angelo Rescaglio and a few months of pause, the Cremonese association returns to promoting culture, starting from an extremely current topic, namely artificial intelligence.

The meeting entitled “Rereading Borges, in the age of artificial intelligence” is scheduled for Friday 3 May, at 5pm, in Sala Zanoni, Via del Vecchio Passeggio 1. Speakers will be Professor Marco Verani, professor of Numerical Analysis at the Polytechnic of Milan and Professor Daniela Negri, former teacher at the Aselli Scientific High School.

The Argentine writer appears today as a prophet, a prophet of the world we live in: his poetic visions are proving to be prophecies of our everyday life, in which the artificial is replacing the real. So what will become of knowledge? Intuition? Of beauty? Of the artistic creative process? The artificial intelligence that insinuates itself into the mesh of our daily lives risks disarticting the very dimension of our existence.

“Enchanted by his rigor, humanity forgets that it is a rigor of chess players, not of angels” writes Borges in the story Tlön, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius. A difficult choice, but if we know how to be “Angels” then we will not be overwhelmed. The Committee of the Dante Alighieri Society has appointed Professor Daniele Rescaglio as president until the expiry of the mandate and the elections for the renewal of the association positions.
