2016, Game 3: Dolomiti Energia Trento-EA7 Emporio Armani Milan 61-62
Olimpia was ahead 2-0 in the series, so they didn’t have much pressure on them and Jasmin Repesa had the luxury of resting Rakim Sanders. Trento (with Peppe Poeta, Diego Flaccadori and Davide Pascolo) would play two championship finals and a Eurocup semi-final in the following seasons. In that series, however, he was at the beginning of his evolution. It was a defensive battle, in which the best player on the pitch was Kruno Simon, 19 points in 27 minutes. However, Trento was ahead by one before the last possession. Alessandro Gentile worked the ball by “playing” with the stopwatch. Then, having reached the favorite tile, he got up in suspension with a fade-away which made Pascolo’s defensive attempt useless with his arm outstretched to contest it. Gentile only found the net to sign the victory that closed the match and the series.
2009, Game 4: Armani Jeans Milan-Banca Tercas Teramo 70-69
In the first year of the Armani era, Olimpia had not even qualified for the Final Eight of the Italian Cup but with a great comeback they entered the playoffs in sixth place and in the quarter-finals they met the revelation Teramo who had some great players in the team : David Moss, Jaycee Carroll, Peppe Poeta. Bruno Cerella also took his first significant steps on the bench. Olimpia won Game 1 in Teramo, won Game 2 at the Palalido by just one point and lost the third away. Game 4 was a battle. Mindaugas Katelynas, a Lithuanian who grew up in America, had scored three points, a two-pointer and a free throw, before the last throw granted to Milan at minus two following a five-second infringement penalized by David Moss. From the corner, Katelynas rose in suspension, with no time to reflect, and sank the 70-69 triple that no one would forget. Olimpia won the series 3-1, gaining two victories with a single point difference, then did the same against Biella and won the championship final.
