Last regular season match in Gubbio (played on Sunday at 8pm), against the fifth in the standings with 56 points (six more than the red and whites, tenths at 50) with the playoffs in their pocket: Rimini is looking for a prestigious result to improve its final position in view of the first playoff of the post season scheduled for next Saturday.

Lepri, Langella, Morra, Lamesta and Pietrangeli are missing from the roll call as well as Rosini and Iacoponi while Leoncini and Malagrida are available and will however go to the bench.

This is the third match of the season between the two teams (and there could be a fourth in a few days, for the first round of the play offs). The first, played on 5 October at the “Romeo Neri”, saw Rimini win the First Eliminatory Round of the Serie C Italian Cup 1-0 thanks to Morra’s goal in the 96th minute.

In the first match of the championship, again at the “Neri” on 22 December, the Umbrians triumphed: 2-1 thanks to goals from Di Massimo in the 11th minute of the first half and Udoh in the 34th minute of the second half, with a goal red and white from Ubaldi again in the 96th minute.

“We have to interpret the match with a mentality because there are important points up for grabs and to better prepare for the second phase (it will be played away against the fifth, sixth or seventh) – explains the Rimini coach – We face a team from midfield up with a lot of quality, unpredictable, with good players who form a strong and experienced team. From a defensive point of view they are a solid team, which concedes few goals, with a certain experience. Getting results helps fuel self-esteem, certainties, involve the environment, our city. They are all components that help prepare a dry match, we don’t know against whom. Our duty is to fuel it, it means going there to play an important match, trying to score points.”

Is Emanuele Troise’s future in Rimini?

“I do not know. There have been no discussions with the company yet. At this moment I only have the duty to continue my work and finish it as best I can. If in the end there is the intention to discuss the future of both of us, because things are done by two people, on my part there will be full availability to discuss.”
