Catania will be saved if…
Descriptive text here

The last day of Serie C group C arrives with Catania at risk of playout: here are all the cases in which the red and blues would be saved.

Budget times in Group C of Serie C: the last round of the championship defines the teams that will participate in the playoffs and playouts. Catania is the only team that, 90 minutes before the end of the regular season, still doesn’t know whether they will play their next matches for Serie B or Serie D.

To clarify things a little, here are the cases in which Catania would survive and therefore be able to play in the playoffs from the first national round thanks to the historic result in the Serie C Italian Cup.

Catania’s salvation comes if…

He wins

In case of victory against Benevento they would be saved regardless of the results of the other fields.

Draw

In case of X with Benevento he would be saved if at least one of these cases occurred:

  • Turris doesn’t win;
  • Monterosi doesn’t win;
  • Potenza-Francavilla does not end in a draw, in fact with Potenza’s victory Catania would go +9 from Francavilla, with Francavilla’s victory Catania would instead overtake Potenza.

Lose

In the event of a defeat against Benevento, Catania would be saved if at least one of the following cases occurred:

  • Turris loses and either Monopoli doesn’t win or Potenza scores at least 1 point, to avoid finishing together with Monopoli and Potenza at 42 points (since Catania would be last in the separate ranking in that case);
  • Monterosi doesn’t win;
  • If Turris were to draw and Monterosi win, Catania would only be saved if they did not have 42 points even with Monopoli and/or Potenza beyond Turris. In fact, Catania with Turris would have the advantage on goal difference, but if Monopoli and/or Potenza were also at 42 points, Catania would not be in the lead in a possible separate ranking. Even in the possible hypothesis of Catania, Potenza, Monopoli and Turris all at 42 points, Catania would also finish 17th as they are last in the separate rankings.

Edward Agrippino Margarone was born in the summer of Italy ’90. He grows up in Mineo where two great passions begin to bewitch him: sport and music. Journalist and graduate in Telecommunications Engineering, he coordinated several editorial offices before founding SiciliaLive. Permanently in Catania, his name is synonymous with concert: if you go to a live show, in all likelihood, you will find him there somewhere.
