Bologna, 27 April 2024 – Guided tours to discover green corners and hidden natural treasures were organized in May as part of the sixth edition of Gardens opened by the volunteers of Fai Giovani Emilia Romagna: excursions and walks among the wonders of the region with a link to the campaign. A journey that will touch Bologna, Ferrara, Modena, Parma, Reggio Emilia, Piacenza and Forlì, and the protagonist will be the environment.

The first date is The May 5th in Formigine, In the Modena, with the opening of Villa Gandini: a path between nature, art and reading discovering the villa, now the municipal library. A jewel of neoclassical architecture in a historic garden that is part of the larger Resistance Park.

The map of events not to be missed in May, province by province

L’May 11th it will be possible to discover a Parma The Rural Agricultural Biodiversity Park in Lesignano dé Bagni, an opportunity to discover a project to safeguard biodiversity. Inside the park, where the space of the protected area also extends, it will be possible to observe plants and animals once present in the area. Also visit the Bosco Spiaggiari in San Prospero, in the immediate vicinity of Parma, to admire oaks, walnuts, ash trees, dogwoods, blackthorns, apple trees and elms.

Sunday May 12th everyone a Ferrara for a visit to ‘The gardens of the Carthusians in via delle Erbe‘: a little-known corner of the city to admire architecture, history and environment. Inside the Park there is Il Gabrina’s Garden, a demonstration garden of medicinal, aromatic and dyeing herbs located in the Acque Chiare area.

TO Forlì a visit to the Scardavilla Woods nature reserve which protects a strip of woodland of notable naturalistic and landscape value, relict of forest formations which once covered the entire foothills of Romagna and where now rare plant and animal species find refuge. Two ancient monastic complexes are part of the protected area. The Scardavilla forest today extends for approximately seven hectares.

A forest of over 1000 hectares in surface area, approximately 1200-1500 meters wide, which extends for approximately 11 km in the direction.

At the same time, Fai Giovani Piacenza organized a visit to Villa La Pistona: immersed in the countryside, on the outskirts of the city, the monumental villa is one of the most significant examples of a noble residence in the 19th century Piacenza countryside. The visit itinerary includes the historic garden, the exteriors of the residential complex and some internal rooms.
