Claudio Amorese was unanimously re-elected president of Cus Foggia. Since 2015 he has led the university sports association.

“They say that three is the perfect number, so I like to think that my third mandate will be the right one to consolidate the growth of the Cus in this city”commented.

The ordinary elective assembly took place last Tuesday 23 April in the headquarters of the University Sports Center.

“We are building a center tailored for young people, a place where everyone can benefit from a complete sporting offer, ideal for discovering and developing aptitudes, passions and talents. Among our objectives – explains Amorese – that of playing a supporting role in the educational and social work of the University of Foggia, guaranteeing university students services and activities complementary to academic life. At the same time – adds President Cussino – we want to spread the fundamental messages linked to our mission throughout the territory: health, well-being, training, inclusion, fun”.

Graduated from the University of Foggia in Business Economics, Claudio Amorese, now an opposition municipal councilor, has a solid experience of university representation behind him and a past as a footballer.

His second term ended with a splendid victory signed by the basketball boys. “The competitive sections have given us extraordinary results in recent seasons. Last year we celebrated the promotion to Serie C and the victory of the Puglia Cup of our 5-a-side football team. A few days ago, however, it was the senior basketball team who gave us the immense joy of jumping into Serie C. These goals are significant: we have managed the post-pandemic period well and have created virtuous and winning paths, both at a competitive and amateur level. It is clear, however, that to continue to raise the name of our city and our university, we need the support of institutions, such as the Municipality and the Province, as well as the support of local entrepreneurs, to whom we address a heartfelt appeal”.

Another important focus is that linked to infrastructure. “Regenerating and implementing the structures of the Via Napoli plants owned by the province of Foggia and managed by Cus Foggia is a fundamental point for us. The intent is to strengthen our offer and improve the quality and variety of the service. We have many ideas and many ideas on the table to make Cus Foggia a great meeting place, where you can play sports in an increasingly safe and welcoming way.”

On the other hand, welcome and inclusion are elements that have characterized Cussina’s activity in recent years. “This is another aspect that makes me particularly proud – Amorese continues –. Cus Foggia strongly believes in team play and in our team there is and always will be room for everyone. The various initiatives carried out so far in collaboration with the Right to Study, Sports Services and Disability Area of the University of Foggia have allowed us to promote sports practice as an educational activity of socialization and integration aimed at everyone, with particular attention to the involvement of young people inactive people and people with disabilities. All actions that have allowed many families to experience moments of serenity, friendship and fun through sport. We, in exchange, have received human enrichment and great teachings on the deeper meaning of sport.”

Also on the agenda of the meeting on 23 April is the election of the members of the Board of Directors of Cus Foggia, which will be composed of Maria Assunta Doddi, Claudio Genesio D’Agnello, Laurenzo Longo and Stefano Corsi.

Michele Rinaldi, however, will hold the role of president of the Board of Auditors. Alongside him, there will be the actual members Gianluca Simone and Vincenzo Rosiello.
