Antonio Scurati still in the eye of the storm. After the case of the monologue and the alleged censorship in Rai, the author of trilogy by M. has returned to the center of the news for accusations – Then retreat with lots of apologies – thrown against the Tg1 in an interview. “The passage of Scurati’s interview is unacceptable,” commented the president of the Chamber’s Culture and Publishing Commission Federico Mollicone (Brothers of Italy).

In an interview given to RepublicScurati said he had “suffered a moral and psychological violence“, referring to the controversy that followed the alleged censorship that occurred in the Rai 3 program “Chesarà…”, hosted by Serena Bortone.
“I was pointed out – he added – as evildoer, swindler, profiteer, as if he had extorted an undue compensation. Tg1 offered it unworthy spectacle of a journalist who asked for mine indictment for contempt of institutions“.

However, it was just one oversight. The writer then apologized publicly through a note, also read live on Tg1 in the evening edition of Friday 26 April: “I only now realize that I have unfortunately made a inaccurate statement“, explained Scurati.
“The accusation of ‘contempt towards institutions’ was made against me in a television context other than Tg1 and not by a journalist from that newspaper. The chaos of these days has caused me this confusion. As soon as it was reported to me, I tried to remedy it. I sincerely apologize to all the journalists of Tg1“.
Federico Mollicone’s attack (Brothers of Italy)
To define “the passage of the interview was unacceptable of Scurati”, as reported by Adnkronos, he was the president of the Culture and Publishing Commission of the Chamber and National Culture and Innovation Manager of Brothers of Italy, Federico Mollicone.
“The accusation of ‘contempt towards institutions’ cited by the writer – Mollicone specified during the meeting ‘Roots of Europe‘ in Pescara for the programmatic conference of Fratelli d’Italia – it does not appear to have been held by any journalist of the newspaper, as he also said and acknowledged”.
“Take care of yourself – added the FdI exponent – also apologize to the millions of Italians which he outraged by defining them as old and poorly educated people. The left-wing intellectuals there are more and more perched in their ivory tower so they are all ignorant if they don’t follow their diktats.”
The passage cited by Mollicone relating to Tg1 viewers was contained in an interview given by Scurati to a Polish newspaper, Wyborcza.pl, in which the writer stated: “I give the most recent example of Tg1, the most watched news program in Italy, especially by elderly people, with little education and therefore with little critical sense. A few days ago, the host of this program demanded that I be charged with contempt of a state institution. Imagine: millions of people who had never heard my name before are told that they are dealing with a criminal.”

In recent days Antonio Scurati he returned to the matter of the monologue that he was unable to read on Rai 3, describing, in a meeting at the Feltrinelli foundation, the attitude that the Government would have taken towards him after the news had leaked.
“These never accept a confrontation, a battle of ideas, of arguments. They always move the conversation to the level ofpersonal assault”, the writer had said.
