The concert of processional marches of the Holy Week in Granada and Taranto will be a prologue to the XI international conference on popular religious culture organized by the La Veste Rossa association.

The appointment is for Sunday 28 April, at 6.30 pm immediately after the celebration of the Holy Mass, in the cathedral of San Cataldo, when in the presence of the archbishop of Taranto, mons. Ciro Miniero, the Ensemble of the Tebaide orchestra of Italy, directed by maestro Cosimo Maraglino, will hold a concert of music from the Holy Week of Taranto and Granada.
Six marches are scheduled: Granada, Amarguras and Mi Amargura of the processions taking place in Granada; Sadness, Motetto alla Desolata and Mamma, the Taranto funeral marches. Entrance is free.
The initiative is part of the broader program of the XI international conference on popular religious culture whose theme, this year, is “The Crucifix, prologue of the Resurrection”. Central points of the annual initiative of the La Veste Rossa association of president Gigi Montenegro, which enjoys the patronage of the Municipality of Taranto, will be the appointments on Monday 29 April and Tuesday 30 April. On Monday 29th, in the Hall of Mirrors, in the morning session from 9.30 to 13.30, there will be talks by Professor Paolo Stefanì, Professor of Ecclesiastical Law at the University of Bari, whose speech has as its theme “The use and abuse of the Crucifix for the construction of dialogue” which will be followed by interventions by Marifran Carazo, alcadesa (the equivalent of our mayor) of Granada who will discuss “Granada: from tradition to a promising future” and by Armando Ortiz, president of the brotherhoods of Granada , whose theme will be “The federations of brotherhoods as a union of the fraternal movement”. In the afternoon session, from 4.30pm to 7pm again in the Hall of Mirrors, the speech by Don Andrea Mortato, parish priest of the Santissimo Crocifisso sanctuary, will be of particular note, and will deal with the miraculous image kept in that church, and the report by Adelardo Mora who will talk about the centenary of the Confraternity of Christ of Mercy. During the conference, representatives of the brotherhoods of Addolorata, Immacolata and Carmine of Taranto will speak while Paco Castro will speak about the point of view and commitment of the “costaleros” or the bearers of the statuary groups of the Andalusian Holy Week.
Another central moment of the conference will take place on Tuesday 30 April when, at 12pm, at the City Hall, the mayor of Granada, Marifran Carazo, and the mayor Rinaldo Melucci will sign a memorandum of understanding for the twinning between the two city ​​in the name of the Rites of Holy Week.
