The Cosenza prosecutor’s office has closed the investigation on some alleged false assumptions of workers. Over 245 people are under investigation. According to the prosecution, ithe “system” was well established. The subjects under investigation were “enlisted” to then collect benefits: unemployment, family allowancessickness and maternity in favor of the agricultural company “Crati Valley” with registered office in Bisignano.

In the sights of the Financial Policewhose investigations were coordinated by the public prosecutor Maria Luigia D’Andrea, Gone are the working days and sick days related to the years 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020.

From unemployment to motherhood

These certifications, according to the prosecutor’s office, would have misled INPS on the fulfillment of the conditions required for the provision of benefits due for unemployment, family allowances, sickness and maternity in favor of the “attentive” company which would have achieved an unfair profit, with relative damage to the social security institution, constituted in the alleged undue receipt of hundreds of thousands of euros.

Who is the main suspect?

The main suspect is Sergio Pancaro, owner of the agricultural company subjected to investigation by the Fiamme Gialle. The alleged crimes there are 246 and according to the accusatory approach they would have been committed between the municipalities of Acri, Bisignano, Mongrassano, Fagnano Castello, San Marco Argentano, Torano Castello, Lattarico, Luzzi, Rota Greca, Cosenza, Montalto Uffugo, Castrolibero, Cerzeto and Rende.

After the notice of conclusion of the preliminary investigations, the suspects will have the right to request an investigative interrogation or file a defense statement. After that, the Cosenza prosecutor’s office will evaluate whether or not to carry out criminal proceedings, invoking a request for indictment. The suspects are to be considered innocent until an irrevocable conviction.
