Garofalo shines, but Italy finishes off the podium

The 4th place with 14 total penalties of an unprecedented Italy in the ‘three-star’ Eef in Gorla Minore is worth 100 points, the best score among direct rivals in the march towards the semi-final in Budapest in September. Satisfaction therefore in perspective, and also for a couple of pairs capable of at least one clear run out of two: Lupino-Iniesta (4/0) and Garofalo-Hero (0/4). Some doubts remain on two points.

First: the performance of Martinengo with the 9 year old Captain Morgan Weering Z (22/2), a sign that the new pairing still needs fine-tuning, and of Casadei with Chagracon Ps (4/8) who in the last appointments – sorry to say because the still young carabiniere is an absolute talent – he finds it difficult to score.

Second: coach Porro is struggling to put together a competitive team, a month away from the ‘five stars’ in Piazza di Siena. Three of these ‘proven’ players were not in the team at Gorla, but at Fontainebleau: Camilli (Casa Blue PS and Odense Odeveld), De Luca (Curcuma Il Palazzetto and Don Vito), Gaudiano (Jaja and Chalou).

It is probable that they will be the hard core of the national team for Rome. The other two will arise from the next races. Maybe Bucci will be able to recover the injured Cochello. For the record: Switzerland won (0), ahead of Germany (4) and the United Arab Emirates (8).
