FRANCAVILLA. An April 25th full of events and emotions that Francavilla celebrated yesterday, starting with the commemoration of the Liberation in the Municipality in the presence of the mayor Luisa Russoof the president of the municipal council Francesca Buttari and other civil and institutional authorities.
«We remembered», explains Mayor Russo, «how freedom is not an obvious concept or an accomplished task, but a value that must be defended every day».
And as planned, the morning continued with cycling along the cycle path, together with the “Tante da Racket” collective, which spoke about the bicycle as a tool for female emancipation and freedom. An event, the bicycle ride, among those planned while waiting for the stage of the Giro d’Italia, scheduled for May 15th. Before this date, Francavilla will dedicate a mural on a school to Alfonsina Strada before the stage of the Giro.
But in the meantime, the next events will be “Flowers and strawberries”, on 4 and 5 May, and again, the pink night on 11 May. It is no coincidence that yesterday, the two-wheel caravan moved wearing pink hats, along the route from Asterope to the new Piazza IV Novembre for the official inauguration, after the Pnrr urban regeneration works.
«In Piazza IV Novembre», the mayor further comments, «we savored the freedom of looking at the sea while sitting in a space given back to the city. Removed from decay and delivered to the quality of life we all deserve.”
And he adds: «Only as a team can you achieve great results. For this I want to thank the always close associations, the authorities, the citizens, the councillors, the staff, the municipal offices, for their dedication to wanting to do good for our city. Thanks also to those who brought the new square to life: the designer Massimo Murganothe Cogema company and all those who contributed to making this day memorable.”
