‘We are ambitious, experienced and fearless’

(By Lorenzo Ruggieri) Arriving on the shores of the Ionian during the month of November, Alessio Luciani immediately established himself as a key player in Ezio Capuano’s starting eleven. The former Reggiana player has already played 22 matches with the rossoblù jersey, missing just two matches.

Humility and self-sacrifice are at the center of a perfect setting, as revealed by the defender himself during the Rossoblù broadcast, broadcast on Antenna Sud Extra: “When I arrived, the results were already exceptional. I arrived on tiptoe, I remained myself and the group welcomed me in a great way. I expected such a warm place and I am happy and proud to be part of it.”

Luciani was among the protagonists of the recent success against Avellino: “We faced a team coming off an excellent period of form. After an initial study phase, however, our desire to give joy to the fans prevailed. We had taken care of every detail during the week and we were all positive. The goal is the emblem of our season, when the substitutes guarantee you such high quality it is easier to bring home the three points. We didn’t concede any shots on goal to the Irpinia team and we all had a great performance. Seeing those fans at the stadium is a shame, why can’t a team like this aspire to something more important than Serie C?”.

The excellent match played by Capuano’s team calms the spirits in view of the end of the season, including the playoffs: “Physically we are fine”, admitted Luciani: “but in addition to the lungs there is something more. In this team we all know we have to throw our heart over the obstacle and this is guaranteed by the heart and the head. In the playoffs, incidents make the difference, so I can’t say too much. We are an ambitious, experienced and fearless team. Furthermore, no one considers us a team that can aspire to something important and this can be an advantage. Getting to the end won’t be easy but we will give it our all.”

The Ionian team, therefore, does not seem to have taken the blow from sporting justice, with consequent penalisation: “On the one hand there was disappointment, on the other a force took over that united us further”, declared the defender from Rieti .

Luciani’s contract expires in June, but the flexible Lazio player remains focused on the path: “I live day by day, I hope I have given something that can give me a future but it doesn’t depend on me”

In Lucani’s imminent future, therefore, there is Latina: “We will face a team with expert players coming from higher categories. We have respect, but no fear, winning the individual duels on Saturday will count.”
