advice to Calabrian citizens on how to operate online safely

A handbook is also available for citizens of the five Calabrian provinces, with a few simple rules, to operate safely online

The advice is illustrated in the section dedicated to security on the Post Office website.

Poste Italiane and PostePay never ask for confidential data (username, password, security codes) in any way (e-mail, text message, social network chat, call center operators) and for any purpose. If anyone, even presenting themselves as an employee of Poste Italiane or a representative of the police force, were to ask for this information, it is an attempt at fraud, so do not provide it to anyone;

· It is never required to arrange transactions of any kind under the pretext of security problems on the account or on the card, much less through telephone indications from presumed employees of Poste Italiane or representatives of the police force, which induce one to go to the post office or to the Postamat ATM to carry them out;

· Do not respond to e-mails, text messages, phone calls or chats asking for personal codes (username, password, security codes, payment card data) or reporting phantom security problems with imminent blocking of operations. Even if they appear to come from reliable sources or from known company addresses, Poste Italiane never asks for such information and does not click on links that may be present;

· Check the reliability of an email before opening it: verify that the sender is known and identified;

· Do not download attachments from a suspicious email and do not click on the link contained before having verified that the sender is known and identified; if this happens by mistake, do not authenticate on the fake site and close the web browser immediately;

· Type the internet address www.poste.it directly into the web browser bar to access the Poste Italiane website;

· Use the App to take advantage of the free push notification service and be informed in real time about payment transactions carried out with your current account and payment cards. Alternatively, activate the SMS notification service on your mobile phone.

Report any phishing emails to Poste Italiane by forwarding them to [email protected]. Immediately afterwards, trash them and delete them permanently;
