A protest poster appeared in recent days on the fence of the construction site carrying out the work in Montale di Marola, near the houses. “We have understood that you don’t want to do comb parking. Since public money is being spent, at least the retaining wall must be parallel to that of the building starting from the bottom of the trench and not parallel to the axis of the road. Thank you”, reads the sign posted by some residents of the area.
The question revolves around the number of parking spaces that will be created at the end of the project. In fact, with the layout designed by the Municipality, four will be created, while the residents of the area would have preferred to have more, arranging them in another way. It all revolves around the placement of the retaining wall.
The discontent registered at Montale, however, also concerns the period in which the construction site takes place, the end of which is scheduled for the month of August, creating discomfort precisely in the period in which there are more tourists staying in non-hotel facilities in the area .
But there are also those who would have gladly done without those jobs, in high or low season. “It is useless work, which will benefit few. It would have been more useful for the Municipality to spend that money to asphalt the road, given that in some places it is collapsing and that there are huge potholes”, says a resident referring to the conditions of Via del Mattone.
