FANO – One fake money which allowed them to play endlessly. Practically the dream of every boy who lived in the 80s/90s and dedicated to frequenting the old arcades with the Arcades. Only this object connected to a metal cable It was inserted into the slot machines by three Romanians who, for this reason, ended up in trouble.
Is called ‘minnow technique’ and allowed them to play in a systematic and repeated way until they broke the machines of different clubs, so much so that they could even scrape together 3 thousand euros a day. The ones who put an end to this scam were the police officers from the Fano police station coordinated by Stefano Seretti, in synergy with the local police coordinated by Anna Rita Montagnaand thanks to the precious use of the city video surveillance system.
The suspicious car, an Audi A5, already under the attention of the authorities, had been identified while it was wandering suspiciously between Via Roma and the Adriatic state road. The three, aged between 35 and 45, were followed by the officers and waited at the exit of an amusement arcade: they had with them 800 euros they had just ‘won’ and the fake currency. Another similar object was found inside the Audi.
The police investigations also revealed the modus operandi of the gang, who used to stay in some hotels while the members studied the area and the slot rooms in which to hit. Two of them they acted as stakes, while the third cheated the machines with the above technique.
On Friday the judge validated the arrests for aggravated theft. The leader of the gang was already known for dozens of thefts of this type carried out throughout the country. For him the judge opted for the precautionary measure of the obligation to reside in Lombardy, for the others the trial was postponed to May 20th.
