Scuderia Palladio Historic: near victory in Levico

SOURCE: SCUDERIA PALLADIO HISTORIC PRESS OFFICE, ANDREA ZANOVELLOOnly an error at the end of the second heat deprived Pizzato’s Porsche 911 of victory. Targa Florio, Valpolicella and Valli Biellesi coming to liven up next weekend
Vicenza, 7 May 2024 – The 2024 edition of the “Levico – Vetriolo – Panarotta” hill climb took place last Sunday, in which, in addition to the announced “Pac” and “Otto Von Ranap”, Umberto Pizzato also managed to start a few days after the event, it seemed he couldn’t be present. Having resolved a personal problem, the driver of the Porsche 911 RSR of the 2nd Group demonstrated that he was at ease on the Trentino climb by achieving the best time in both test heats, repeating himself also in the first race on Sunday. Unfortunately, a mistake at the end of the course penalized him heavily, denying him the success, which he missed by just 72 hundredths of a second. “Otto Von Ranap” was also satisfied with his performance and, race after race, he gained more and more confidence behind the wheel of his Fiat Giannini 128 NP with which he won the class; the same cannot be said for the unfortunate “Pac” forced to retire due to a fire that broke out on his Ford-powered Lola T590.
Two crews took part in the Bianco Azzurro Rally in the Republic of San Marino, entered in the non-competitive “Rally Stars” category where only the Mazda MX-5 of Stefano Adrogna and Natascia Biancolin crossed the finish line, while the Peugeot 306 of Elio Segato and Kay Cortiana had to stop due to a broken gear lever.
We now look to the next commitments with two rallies and a classic regularity coming up. At the Targa Florio Rally, the third round of the Tricolore scheduled for Friday 10 and Saturday 11 May, Francesco Ospedale and Antonio Mancuso will be at the start with the Volkswagen Golf GTI Group A. Three crews registered for the Valpolicella Rally scheduled on the same days, in the province of Verona; in the historic rally, Antonillo Zordan will return to the race and to the ranks of the Scuderia Palladio Historic, already a long-time bearer of the “cat in the helmet” in the past, who for the occasion dusts off the Porsche 911 SC Group 4 where Carlo Vezzaro will dictate to him the notes. Ezio Franchini will also be at the start with Fabian Bolzonella on a Peugeot 205 GTI 1.9, while in the modern rally we will see the debut of the “son of art” Tommaso Regazzo at the wheel of a Peugeot 106 in which he will have the expert Andrea Ballini at his side.
Finally, we move on to Piedmont for the fourth round of the Italian Historic Car Regularity Championship which will stop in Biella where the eleventh edition of the Valli Biellesi will take place on Saturday 11th, in which Mauro Argenti and Roberta Amorosa on a Porsche 911 S are entered.
