The municipality of Poggibonsi has approved the 2023 report, one of the points on the agenda of the meeting which took place on 22 April. The act was presented by the mayor. The report closes the 2023 financial year by photographing all the activities that took place. It emerges that the accounts are in order and there is a positive operating result. “The free cash surplus amounts to 3.7 million euros, the result of careful management, the ability to monitor revenues and residues, but also respect deadlines and also honor payment terms towards those who work for the administration . In the fourth quarter of 2023 the payment timeliness index was -22.72 days and this means that the municipality honored payments with an average of 22.72 days in advance – we read in the note released -, improving the data progressively over the years”.
“On the expenditure front, both current and investment, it emerges that the allocation for the complex of social services has increased with the capitation rate rising to 53.35 (in 2019 it was 51 euros) per inhabitant. An increase in resources which was accompanied by other actions necessary to respond to people’s needs, including the ability to intercept useful resources to implement services and infrastructures and greater interaction between subjects, sectors and tools – he continues -. Attention to cultural subjects has increased and the commitment to maintenance has increased which had previously been affected, as the mayor explained, by the need to correspond with budget resources to the contractual obligations relating to the realization of the works financed with programming resources extraordinary, subject to an evolving regulatory plan. In 2023, approximately half of investment spending will be allocated to maintenance. Furthermore, useful operations have begun to continue the path started both for the modernization of school buildings and for urban regeneration: the expansion and adaptation of the Rodari nursery, which is underway together with the adaptation and efficiency improvement of the school Pieraccini and the second batch of Borgaccio nursery schools; the redevelopment of via di Borgovecchio in Staggia which will follow the construction of the new Piazza Grazzini in via della Pace and the other four operations financed with the Pnrr (the car park in the former goods yard has been completed, work is underway in via Gallurì, for the renovation of the condominium and for the cycle/pedestrian path to the school and the hospital).
“The commitments relating to the use of ordinary and extraordinary resources have been met. As the administration explained, the 2023 report shows growth in services and investments, with the maintenance of budget balances and without putting future generations into debt. The only loan contracted is that for the second lot of public lighting efficiency which will lead to savings on current expenditure” concludes the press release, finally specifying that the report was approved unanimously by those present (Democratic Party, Poggibonsi Can, Vivacittà , Next Poggibonsi).
