Juan Esperanza’s exhibition in Bagheria

On Saturday 11 May at 5.30 pm, in the premises of the Piero Montana Art and Culture Center in Bagheria, the exhibition of the Sicilian-Mexican artist Juan Esperanza, entitled “Anamorphosis Paintings Sculptures Installations”, will be inaugurated by professor Tommaso Romano.

In this exhibition Esperanza exhibits heterogeneous works that recall magical, primitive, ancestral figures.

Figures embodying beings of mythical origins, undifferentiated beings with a dual human and animal nature, embryonic or larval beings, human figures bearing heads, the latter figures typical of initiates who experience mystical death.

Esperanza loads the material substrate of the paintings, in which these tribal figures are represented, with elements with a powerful magical force, such as volcanic ash and sand, personally collected from the craters of Etna, the mythical forge of Hephaestus, lord of fire and inventor of those originally mysterious and initiatory arts, such as metallurgy and terracotta.

The exhibition can be visited every day, until June 11th, from 5.30pm to 8.00pm, by reservation only.
