A battle started by President De Luca due to the chronic shortage of doctors in Campania and beyond. “We were fighting a battle against what truly seems absurd to me, this is also the first important result of our battle: this wall of indifference has fallen, this refusal to discuss this issue”.
Satisfaction with the Senate’s ruling but also a warning from the governor who wanted to invite citizens to “be very cautious: it is a step forward, but there are still unclear and ambiguous elements. There is talk of a test after 6 months, however there is talk of a limited number connected to specialization schools for young graduates. And De Luca remarks on the concerns raised by the health sectors: “I don’t think we can worry about the fact that in ten years we will have unemployment. What is certain is that we will have tens of thousands of doctors who are missing because the others are retiring. We could then say that there are many unemployed graduates in Law, Letters and Philosophy, Sociology. It doesn’t seem like a very strong argument to me, but what certainly requires reflection is the issue of funding, the relationship with specialization schools, the non-subordination of young graduate doctors who attend specialization schools and are sometimes blocked by the teachers”.
