TERAMO. It is another painful story of family abuse that takes shape in a judicial file with a man who ended up on trial for having harassed, beaten and threatened his wife with death in front of his two young children. A 50-year-old man from Teramo was sent to trial by the preliminary hearing judge Roberto Veneziano and the first hearing of the trial is scheduled for July.
According to the prosecutor’s accusations, all to be proven during the trial, the man on several occasions threatened and beat the woman of his age, even in front of the children. Violence that allegedly occurred both inside the home and outside, in particular when the woman was in the company of some family members.
For this reason, the Public Prosecutor claims, the woman was forced to leave the house with her children several times. Subsequently there would have been attempts at reconciliation between the two, all of which failed, according to the reconstruction of the Prosecutor’s Office, due to the man’s violence. In fact, when the woman returned, there were repeated beatings and death threats of various kinds with the woman who was hosted in a shelter for a period. In particular, the public prosecution highlights an episode that allegedly occurred last year.
On that occasion the man with a knife in his hand shouted at the woman: “If you don’t leave I’ll kill you.” Subsequently, again according to her accusation, he beat her several times, always in front of the two children. The latter episodes would have triggered the woman’s definitive decision to leave the man’s home, taking the children with her. Subsequently the woman filed a complaint against the man who has now been sent to trial.
The 50-year-old has always denied any wrongdoing, claiming that he had never beaten or threatened his wife. During the trial the woman’s accusations will have to be proven.(dp)
