a contest to revitalize the youth music scene in Piacenza

“We don’t participate just to win, but because playing makes us happy”: this is the message from the competitors in the Giovani Suoni contest, which began on 25 April at the Kiosko in via dei Pisoni in Piacenza. “Music is fun they added -, it manages to convey what one has inside, beyond words. When you compose you open up, you talk about love, discomfort, dreams and pain, anger and peace, without restrictions and for this reason you also become more vulnerable, but that’s right, because music creates feeling”.

Share the musical passion

After a break of a few years, this event was relaunched by the “La Ricerca” association, committed for years to supporting every fragility, in collaboration with the socio-musical-cultural association Crazy Sound of Podenzano. The event aims to be a significant moment for the local community and young emerging artists. At Kiosko around thirty young musicians, divided into eight bands, have the opportunity to perform and share their passion for music. The event program is divided into three evenings of competitions, and began on April 25, with the first four groups: Afterglow, The Therapy, Midnight Lullaby and Anh. Many flocked to the venue, not only young people but also many parents and teachers because many groups arise from schools. The venue could not contain the large audience who supported the bands with thunderous applause.

The prices

The second evening, scheduled for Sunday 5 May, will see the groups Sourgrapes, Young Guns, Field of Petrichor and An Awkward Duet perform. The competition will culminate on Sunday 12 May with the final, where the groups most applauded by the public, which acts as a jury, will compete for the prestigious prizes. The winners of the contest will have the opportunity to record for two days in the studio, a prize that can represent a significant springboard for their musical careers. Second place winners will receive a voucher for the purchase of musical products, while third place will guarantee access to the Crazy Fest in Podenzano, another important event for musicians in the area.

Free and powerful music

Elisabetta Balordi, educator of the La Ricerca Don Giorgio Bosini ETS Foundation – Educational Services COTe.Pi. EducAzione & Lavoro, underlined the importance of this event as an opportunity for young people to share a common passion, to learn from each other and to grow personally and professionally. Giovani Suoni is not just a contest, but a celebration of music as a free and powerful form of expression. The contest aims to highlight the role of music in the education of young people, creating places where creativity and passion can truly thrive.
