Insects in some dishes (such as ants in the dessert) served to children at a secondary school, as well as mold in the portions of bread for celiac students. The financiers of Vicenza found them, with the support of the officials of the Food Hygiene and Nutrition Service of Ulss 8 Berica, controlling a social cooperative active in the event catering sector and supplier of ready meals to private individuals and school canteens. An activity resulting from the information collected by the Fiamme Gialle who, for some time, have been monitoring school canteens and the quality of the services and meals provided. “On this occasion, from the preliminary investigations conducted, the presence of insects emerged in some dishes served to children of a secondary school, as well as mold in the portions of bread for celiac students,” we read in a statement.

THERE WERE ALSO DEFICIENCIES IN CLEANING APPLIANCES, LABELS AND FOOD STORAGE

Based on some initial information, the financiers and officials of the Ulss inspected the cooperative’s cooking center in Monticello Conte Otto to verify compliance with the health and hygiene requirements and ascertain the position of the workers. This, as a note from the Gdf informs, “made it possible to detect serious hygienic-sanitary non-conformities concerning, among other things, the maintenance and cleaning of household appliances in use, labeling and the correct method of storing food“.

TWO ILLEGAL WORKERS ALSO FOUND, ACTIVITY STOPPED

Furthermore, the Fiamme Gialle found two completely illegal workers in the kitchens on whom further inspections are underway, also to verify whether or not they meet the requirements for actual employment in food preparation activities. TOIn light of the health and hygiene irregularities detected, Ulss 8 Berica immediately issued a suspension order and an immediate ban on the continuation of the activity, valid until the violations found are resolved and a series of prescribed interventions are carried out. For the employment of illegal workers, however, there has been a move administrative sanctions of approximately 4,000 euros with a proposal to suspend the activity to the Vicenza Labor Inspectorate. The financiers informed the school management and the parents committee of the violations found for any compliance obligations.

GDF: FAMILIES ALWAYS REPORT TO US DEFICIENCIES IN SCHOOL CANTEENS

“The activity carried out in synergy between the Fiamme Gialle and the Berica Health Authority once again confirms the maximum commitment of the Corps to the protection of public health, the labor market and to combat unfair competition, in a sector such as that of administration of drinks and food, particularly delicate, especially since in this case it was aimed at hundreds of young students in the Vicenza area. This is why the Financial Police strongly advises schools and parents to promptly contact the relevant supervisory authorities, also reporting to the Corps situations of serious shortages in the supply of school canteens which could result in damage to health”, conclude the Fiamme Gialle .
