Liberaformazione “Mafias in Piedmont”: 9 May webinar promoted by Compagnia di San Paolo together with Notice Pubblico, Libera and Regione Piemonte

Provide information on the evolution of the mafia presence and the current rooting of the mafias in Piedmont and illustrate the current legislation and state, regional and philanthropic instruments for the reuse of confiscated assets for social and institutional purposes. These are the objectives of the first webinar that kicks off the series of meetings “BENI IN RETE 3.0: Objective Piedmont”, promoted by the Compagnia di San Paolo in collaboration with Notice Publico, Libera Piemonte and the Piedmont Region.

The project includes an innovative and useful training course to support entities interested in recovering and reusing assets confiscated from the mafias in Piedmont, in view of the regional tender to be published soon, through the creation of four webinars.

The first online date is Thursday 9 May, from 11.00 to 12.30with the entitled meeting “The rooting of mafias in Piedmont and the synergistic action of the State, Region and Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation on confiscated assets”.

Speakers:

Sandra Aloia, Head of Mission Encourage active participation, Cultural Objective of the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation. It will introduce the Foundation’s upcoming webinars and activities on confiscated assets;

Francesco Stallone, Prefect of Turin. It will illustrate the role of the Prefecture in the fight against mafias;

Paolo Toso, Magistrate of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Turin – “Establishment of mafias in Piedmont”;

Raffaella Tittone, Director of the Turin anti-mafia district directorate;

Claudio Morocco, Commerce and tertiary sector manager – “Role of the Region and future activities”;

Tatiana Giannone, Confiscated assets sector Libera Nazionale – “From the Rognoni-La Torre Law to Law 109/96: the social reuse of confiscated assets”.

This first webinar aims to present an analysis of the settlement and consolidation strategies of mafia organizations in Piedmont. The speakers will examine the current laws, the options for action and the forms of financial support and accompaniment available for public administrations and third sector bodies interested in the reuse of confiscated assets. The objective is to provide the knowledge necessary to transform these assets into useful resources for the community and for the social and economic development of the territory.

Upcoming appointments:

Webinar 16 May 11-12.30: Tools, procedures and data on the confiscation and reuse of confiscated assets. The second webinar will focus on the administrative procedures necessary for the reuse of these assets, complex bureaucratic procedures that are often difficult to understand. During the event, management practices will also be discussed and concrete examples will be provided on how to identify and use essential data for the creation of reuse projects. This webinar aims to help overcome the common challenge of accessing data, information and regulations that are often difficult to find, providing practical tools and methods to facilitate the process.

Webinar 23 May 11am-12.30pm: From the request for interest from the National Agency for Confiscated Seized Assets to reuse: practices and experiences. During the third webinar, the experiences of local administrations and organizations that have already dealt with the management of confiscated assets will be examined. Innovative approaches for co-design and the creation of networks and alliances aimed at the effective reuse of these assets will be discussed. Furthermore, new ways of shared management, particularly suitable for small municipalities, will be presented and solutions to common procedural challenges that can arise during the reuse process will be explored.

Webinar 30 May 11-12.30: Planning and fund raising for the reuse of confiscated assets. The last webinar is dedicated to strengthening planning skills and fundraising methodologies. This session will feature technical experts, administrators and third sector representatives, who will share their experiences and knowledge, thus providing a rich and varied overview of best practices in these crucial areas.
