Olbia 21: run with us, run with Olbia. Sunday 5 May 2024 – Piazza Crispi.

«We are happy that this year such a wide-ranging running event has been organised, with a wonderful route that arrives in Pittulongu for the first time, passing through the elevated road to give participants a breathtaking view. We thank Podistica Olbia and all the associations that do so much for our territory and for our young people. We will continue to support them.” These are the words of the Sports Councilor Elena Casu regarding the event that will be held in Olbia on May 5th.

Strengthened by the result achieved last year with StraOlbia, for the 2024 edition Podistica Amatori Olbia has planned a larger sporting event: OLBIA21, the half marathon of the city of Olbia, organized in collaboration with MG Sport and its brand Followyourpassion, historic organizer of the Chia half marathon, with whom the foundations were laid to create synergy with a combination between Olbia21 and the half marathon they organized in southern Sardinia in Chia.

The day, dedicated entirely to sport, includes the following competitions:

  • HALF MARATHON – COMPETITIVE RACE 21.097 Km
  • COMPETITIVE 10 KM
  • STRAOLBIA – 5 KM NON-COMPETITIVE CITY RACE: Family Run/walk suitable for everyone

REGISTRATIONS:

Registrations for competitive races must be made online on the website www.olbia21.it, in the registration section, by 29 April 2024, while for the non-competitive race, in addition to online registration, it will be possible to register on the days on May 4th from 11.30am to 8.00pm and on May 5th from 8.00am to 9.30am at the departure and arrival point (Piazza Crispi), where the secretariat will be set up.

PLAN:

11.30am – 8.00pm Piazza Crispi (Organizational Secretariat): Collect bibs and race pack. Registrations StraOlbia 5km.

8:00 – 9:30 Piazza Crispi (Organizational Secretariat): Collection of bibs and race pack. Registrations StraOlbia 5km.

8:00 – 8:45: Bag storage

9.55am: Starting gates close;

10:00: Start of competitive half marathon and 10 km races;

10.10am: Start of the non-competitive StraOlbia 5km race

1.00pm Piazza Crispi: Awards ceremony

SIDE EVENTS:

In addition to the races, the event includes a series of collateral initiatives along the entire route, aimed at participants as well as spectators, adults and children, athletes and non-athletes:

  • Crispi Square: Warm-up by Daniele Perra and Black Swan Dance School
  • Square in front of the Municipality: Il Volo, exhibition of typical Sardinian products organized by the “Tesori della Civetta” Association
  • Piazza R. Margherita: DJ set with DJ FASO
  • Via dei Lidi: acrobatic dance performance by Arianna Canopoli with music by Simo and Sere Twins and greeting to the participants by the Olbia Rowing Club and Lega Navale
  • Fausto Noce Park: Sporting events in collaboration with Decathlon and the participation of the Santa Croce and Virtus Basketball Schools, Footvolley Gallura, the Olbia Athletics Clubs, Terranova Tennis Club, Olbia Volleyball
  • Sacred Well: Terzo Tempo band with the participation of De.Mo. Char
  • Pittulongu: DJ sets

The main objective of the initiative is to highlight all-round sport but also the entire territory, giving participants, and not only, natural beauty unique in the world, such as the emerald green beaches that distinguish Gallura and the Costa Emerald. The climate and comfortable direct flights from numerous Italian and international cities allowed the participation of athletes from 34 Italian cities and 9 countries. «We managed, with the help of all the institutional and private partners, to create an event capable of attracting important flows of people interested not only in facing a sporting challenge but also in an unforgettable holiday in our territory – comments Sandra Deiana, President of Amateur Running Olbia – .Thanks go to our institutional partners FIDAL Sardinia and project, Municipality of Olbia: The Mayor Settimo Nizzi, the Councilor for Sport Elena Casu, the Councilor for Tourism and Major Events Marco Balata. Another important objective of Olbia Amateur Running is to educate all age groups in outdoor sports, especially the younger ones, with an eye always attentive to social sustainability, making the event inclusive even with participants with disabilities thanks to participation of the Keep-it Team, and environmental, with an event as much as possible “plastic free” thanks to the support of partners who make sustainability their mission and who, year after year, carry out more and more sustainable initiatives: keep-it Green (Geasar brand) and Eco-tessile (recycling used shoes for athletics tracks).

Furthermore, in collaboration with the Sports Department, we intend to start a virtuous process of synergy with the school environment, through the “Ideas Competition” intended for the students of the “Fabrizio de Andrè” Art School who, making use of their imagination, they created the Logo, the Slogan and the Backdrop of Olbia21, elements that over time will become identifiers of a very important event for the city, as well as recognizable by everyone.
