It was assigned to the doctor Costanza Ciprianigraduated from the international master’s degree in Engineering Management at the University of Siena, the America Youth Award of the Italy USA Foundation, which every year recognizes the talent of a thousand young female and male graduates from Italian universities.
Dr. Cipriani, after obtaining a three-year degree in Philosophy at the University of Florence, completed her training course at the University of Siena, attending the international master’s degree course in Engineering Management. She graduated last year, with 110 cum laude, discussing a thesis entitled “Real-time Air Quality Monitoring with Wearable IoT Sensors: Enhancing Environmental Awareness through Citizen Science and Data-driven Engagement”, followed by the professor Chiara Mocenni as speaker and professor Patrizia Marti as a co-correlator.
In her work, Dr. Cipriani has designed and created a wearable sensor for the detection of air quality data, with the aim of encouraging citizen involvement in environmental monitoring in a context of data science and citizen science. The recent graduate is currently finishing an internship at Gucci in the field of innovation, circular economy and sustainability, and she will soon be hired by the same fashion company to deal with business intelligence.

Qualities that have allowed her to tackle a highly interdisciplinary curriculum, which to many might seem impossible. This award is significant, not only for Costanza, but also for me personally, who welcomed and accompanied Costanza on her journey from the beginning, and for the University of Siena. Interdisciplinary paths are increasingly promoted by many universities and I believe that it is a necessary path to allow young people, who have the future of all of us in their hands, to understand the complexity of the behaviors and mechanisms that we can no longer avoid observing on a daily basis around we.”
The America Youth Award (https://masteritaliausa.org/premio-america-giovani/) is an award assigned by the Italy USA Foundation and intended for a thousand recent graduates from Italian universities who have distinguished themselves for having completed a path of excellence. The selection of applications takes place through the Almalaurea database on the basis of various parameters indicative of academic talent, in order to ensure the maximum degree of transparency and objectivity. In addition to the prize, the winners are offered a scholarship to fully cover the online master’s degree in “Leadership for international relations and Made in Italy”.
There Italy USA Foundationwhich also awards the historic recognition of the America Prize to the most prestigious personalities of clear international fame, is a non-profit organization that aims to demonstrate the closeness between the Italian and American people.
