Giotto Market and Fiera del Ladle in Arezzo: a rapid relaunch is needed
Descriptive text here

The street vendors of Anva Confesercenti Arezzo have written to the councilor for commerce of Arezzo, Simone Chierici, to ask to be urgently summoned “to pto contribute to redefining plans and relaunch strategies of both the weekly market in Via Giotto and the Fiera del Ladle”.

We believe” explains Lucio Gori, head of Anva Confesercenti Arezzo “that councilor Chierici also has a clear understanding of the situation experienced by the Giotto market every Saturday: large empty spaces even after the sorting operations, situations that are sometimes unclear as to who is to operate on market stalls. What is worrying is the process of impoverishment of quality and the way in which the items for sale are displayed. The risk, if action is not taken as soon as possible, is to further accelerate a process which, although common at a national level, is felt more strongly in Arezzo, also due to the fact that the Saturday market at Giotto has always been considered as a of the best at a regional level”.

“Anva Confesercenti” continues Lucio Gori “already last year, in September, with its management group it had brought the concerns and expectations of the category to the attention of the councilor for commerce and the competent offices, launching proposals and suggestions. We are waiting for the convening of a discussion table, which extended to the various subjects involved – the trade office and the Municipal Police first, as well as the traffic office itself – can be activated quickly”.

“For these reasons” replies Gori “the street vendors belonging to Anva-Confesercenti have written again to councilor Chierici, urgently asking to be summoned to discuss the various problems, putting forward shared solutions and paths with the aim of finding improving solutions” .

We cannot waste any more time” concludes Lucio Gori “the market operators in this process want to be protagonists of their future and not suffer the consequences of an inertia that they are feeling around the events of street trading in the city. For the ladle fair itself, we believe it is necessary to find experimental locations that favor a greater compactness of the exhibitors, it remains to be evaluated, even if possible, different ways of carrying it out compared to the traditional one, for example by organizing collateral activities useful to arouse greater interest in order to relaunch an event which, although part of the Arezzo tradition, now presents clear signs of the times”.

The appeal has been launched, now we are just waiting for a sign of attention from the competent bodies.
