During 2023, hundreds of thousands of child pornographic images and videos were seized in Tuscany and over 200 sites were monitored, 50 of which were included in the black list. These are some of the data released by the Cyber Security Operations Center of the Postal Police.
On the national day against pedophilia (5 May) the Tuscan postal police took stock of the activities carried out in 2023. Last year, 42 cases of detention and disclosure of
child pornography material, whose perpetrators were identified and reported (3 of whom were arrested); 18 cases of online solicitation, with perpetrator identified and reported; 2 complaints per sexual violence technomediated to the detriment of minors under the age of 14; a case of sexual acts with minors under 14 years of age, with the perpetrator identified; 14 cases of sexual extortion against minors between 14 and 17 years old.
During the first four months of 2024, there have already been: 12 cases of possession and dissemination of child pornography material, the perpetrators of which have been identified and referred to the judicial authorities, one of whom is under arrest; 21 cases of online solicitation, 9 of whom responsible were identified and reported; 3 cases of sexual extortion against minors between 13 and 17 years old, one of the perpetrators of which was identified and reported; 2 cases of “revenge porn” with victims between 14 and 17 years old and perpetrators reported.
At a national level, in 2023, 28,355 sites were analyzed by postal police specialists, of which almost 2,800 were included in the black list of sites containing representations of sexual exploitation of minors. Over 1100 people identified and reported for downloading, sharing and exchanging photos and videos of sexual abuse against minors.
As regards prevention activities, the postal police is involved both in meetings with schools and through the itinerant training campaign “A social life”, of which 7 stages involved the Tuscan territory in 2023. Overall, in during 2023, 55 meetings were organized in Florence and its province and 285 meetings in the other Tuscan capitals, which involved approximately 20,000 students, 3,000 parents and 2,500 teachers.
